Introduction to the UK Pilot
The UK is taking the lead by piloting CoST on several public projects by disclosing information from a number of projects during the pilot phase. The information will come under the scrutiny of an independently appointed assurance group who will report regularly on the projects to the multi-stakeholder group (MSG). The reports will then be made available publicly.
The MSG oversees and guides the pilot and consists of representatives from government, the private sector and civil society. Please click here for its terms of reference and current members.
UK Consultation Report
The UK Consultation Report has been published following a three month public consultation process which concluded at the end of 2009. The report found that there was public support for CoST with 90% believing that the disclosure of project information will improve the transparency and accountability of publicly funded construction projects. The purpose of the consultation was to inform stakeholders (clients, industry and civil society) in the UK about this international construction transparency initiative and to seek their views on the UK pilot with the aim of improving its objectives and design.
